    SlicersNew in Excel 2010, slicers offer a highly visual way to filter the data in PivotTables. Once you insert a slicer, you use buttons to quickly segment and filter the data to display just what you need. In addition, when you apply more than one filter to your PivotTable, you no longer have to open a list to see which filters are applied to the data. Instead, it is shown right there on the screen in the slicer. You can format slicers to match your workbook formatting and easily reuse them in other PivotTables, PivotCharts, and cube functions.

    “Project Gemini” add-inIf you have a need to model and analyze massive amounts of data, you can download the “Project Gemini” add-in. This powerful add-in lets you integrate data from multiple sources and easily interact with and manipulate large amounts of data—for example, data sets with hundreds of millions of rows.
    PivotTable enhancementsPivotTables are easier and faster to use in Excel 2010. Key enhancements include:
  • Improved performance   In Excel 2010, multi-threading helps speed up data retrieval, sorting, and filtering in PivotTables, which improves the overall PivotTable performance.
  • Enhanced filtering   As mentioned earlier in this article, you can use new slicers to filter data in a PivotTable with the click of a button and to quickly see which filters are applied without having to open additional menus. In addition, you search directly in the filter inte**ce to instantly find what you need among potentially thousands (or even millions) of items in your PivotTables.
     
  • Write-back support   In Excel 2010, you can change values in the OLAP PivotTable Values area and have them written back to the Analysis Services cube on the OLAP server. You can use the write-back feature in what-if mode and then roll back the changes when you no longer need them, or you can save the changes. You can use the write-back feature with any OLAP provider that supports the UPDATE CUBE statement.
  • Show Values As feature   The Show Values As feature is now easier to find and use, and its functionality has been improved in both OLAP and non-OLAP PivotTables.
  • PivotChart enhancements   It's now easier to interact with PivotChart reports. Specifically, it's easier to filter data directly in a PivotChart report and to reorganize the chart's layout by adding and removing fields.     Excel table enhancementsYou use Excel tables (known as Excel lists in Excel 2003) to make it easier to format, organize, and present data on your worksheet. In Excel 2010, key improvements exist in the following areas:
  • Enhanced filtering   When you filter data in an Excel table, you can now search for text and numbers by using the Search box in the filter inte**ce.
  • Filter and sort regardless of location   In an Excel table, table headers replace regular worksheet headers at the top of columns when you scroll down in a long table. In Excel 2010, AutoFilter buttons now remain visible along with table headers in your table columns, so you can sort and filter data quickly without having to scroll all the way back up to the top of the table.
     
  • Better options for naming tables    When you change the name of a table, any PivotTables that refer to that name will update automatically, and you won't see annoying alerts about invalid references.Charting enhancementsMost of the improvements to charting are related to performance.
  • New charting limits   In Microsoft Office Excel 2007, you could have up to 32,000 data points in a data series for 2-D charts. In Excel 2010, the number of data points in a data series is limited only by available memory. This enables people—particularly those of you in the scientific community—to more effectively visualize and analyze large sets of data.
  • Macro recording for chart elements   In Office Excel 2007, recording a macro while formatting a chart or other object did not produce any macro code. In Excel 2010, however, you can use the macro recorder to record formatting changes to charts and other objects.More accurate functionsIn response to feedback from the academic, engineering, and scientific communities, Excel 2010 offers a set of more accurate statistical and other functions. In addition, some existing functions have been renamed to better describe what they do.
  • Accuracy improvements   A number of functions have been optimized to improve accuracy. For example, Excel 2010 returns more accurate results for the beta and chi-squared distributions.
  • Consistent functions   Certain statistical functions have been renamed so that they are more consistent with the function definitions of the scientific community and with other function names in Excel. The new function names also more accurately describe their functionality. For example, because CRITBINOM returns the inverse of the binomial distribution, BINOM.INV is a more appropriate name. Workbooks created in earlier versions of Excel will continue to work despite these name changes, because the original functions still exist in a Compatibility category.

    New version of Excel SolverExcel 2010 includes a new version of the Excel Solver add-in, which enables you to perform what-if analysis on your data. The latest version of Excel Solver offers an improved inte**ce, includes new Evolutionary Solver and Linearity Report features, and produces better, more accurate results. In addition, Excel Solver is now available in a 64-bit version.
    Conditional formatting enhancementsConditional formatting makes it easy to highlight interesting cells or ranges of cells, emphasize unusual values, and visualize data by using data bars, color scales, and icon sets. Excel 2010 improves the overall conditional formatting experience in the following ways:
  • Better icon sets   First introduced in Office Excel 2007, icon sets are used to display icons for different categories of data, based on whatever threshold you determine. For example, you can use a green up arrow to represent higher values, a yellow sideways arrow to represent middle values, and a red down arrow to represent lower values. In Excel 2010, you have access to more icon sets, including **s, stars, and boxes. You can also mix and match icons from different sets and more easily hide icons from view—for example, you might choose to show icons only for high profit values and omit them for middle and lower values.
     
  • Better data bars   Excel 2010 comes with new formatting options for data bars. You can apply solid fills or borders to the data bar, or right-align the data bars in cells. In addition, data bars are now more proportionally representative of actual values, and data bars for negative values appear on the opposite side of an axis from positive values.
     
  • Other improvements   When specifying criteria for conditional rules, it's now possible to refer to values in other worksheets in your workbook.Photo-editing features and artistic effectsCommunicating ideas in Excel 2010 isn't always about showing numbers or charts. In Excel 2010, you don't have to be a graphic designer to create images that look sleek and professional. If you want to use photos, drawings, or SmartArt to communicate visually, you can take advantage of the following features:
  • Screen shots   Quickly take a screen shot and add it to your workbook, and then use the tools on the Picture Tools tab to edit and enhance the screen shot.
  • Picture corrections   Fine tune color intensity (saturation), and color tone (temperature) of a picture, or adjust its brightness, contrast, sharpness, or color—all without having to use additional photo-editing software.
  • New and enhanced artistic effects   Apply different artistic effects to your picture to make it look more like a sketch, drawing, or painting. New artistic effects include Pencil Sketch, Line Drawing, Watercolor Sponge, Mosiac Bubbles, Glass, Pastels Smooth, Plastic Wrap, Photocopy, Paint Strokes, and many more.
  • Better compression and cropping   Now you have better control of the image quality and compression tradeoffs so that you can make the right choice for the medium (print, screen, email) that your workbook will be used for.
  • New SmartArt graphic layouts   With new picture layouts, you can tell your story with photographs. For example, use the Captioned Picture layout to show pictures with nice-looking captions underneath.Improved inking supportThe improved inking feature in Excel 2010 allows you to make ink annotations on your workbook on your Tablet PC and save those ink annotations along with the workbook.
    Math equationsYou can now write and edit equations directly in Excel 2010. On the Insert tab, in the Symbols group, click on Equation.
    Paste PreviewNo more clicking Undo or reformatting your data after pasting from the Clipboard. you can now preview the data you're pasting from the Clipboard, so you can see different possible results you commit to pasting the data.

     
    Backstage ViewAccessible by clicking the File menu, the new Backstage view helps you find commonly used features and discover new capabilities for working with your Excel workbooks. The Backstage view is where you manage your files and the data about them—creating, saving, inspecting for hidden metadata or personal information and setting options. In short, it is everything that you do to a file that you don't do in the file.

     
    Office Auto-RevisionsWith Office Auto-Revisions, versions of your workbook are automatically saved in the Backstage view so you can retrieve part or all of earlier versions of your workbook. This is helpful if you forget to manually save, have another author overwrite your content, save changes you didn't mean to save, or just want to go back to an earlier version of your workbook. You must have AutoRecover or AutoSave turned on to use this feature.
    Ribbon customizationThe Ribbon user inte**ce, first introduced in Excel 2007, is designed to make it easy for you to find commands and features that before were often buried in complex menus and **s.
    While it was possible to add commands to a Quick Access ** in Excel 2007, you couldn't create your own tabs or customize the built-in Ribbon tabs or groups. In Excel 2010, however, you can modify the built-in tabs or create your own tabs and groups. This lets you customize your workspace to your own liking, accomplish repetitive tasks more quickly, and gain more immediate access to your favorite commands.

     
    In addition, if you use Excel 2010 to develop custom workbook solutions, you can programmatically activate tabs on the Ribbon. For example, you can make your custom tabs behave similarly to built-in contextual tabs, where tabs only appear when specific events are fired.

    Work together more effectivelyExcel 2010 offers improved ways to publish, edit, and share workbooks with other people in your organization.
    Work together simultaneously on a workbookMore and more organizations are using Excel Services to publish and share workbooks to Microsoft SharePoint Server sites, and to create dashboards for displaying Excel workbooks and key performance indicators (KPIs) about business data and business processes. If you use Excel Services to save or publish workbooks to a SharePoint site, you can take advantage of useful new features for sharing data, including ability to collaborate with other people on the same workbook at the same time. For example, if you and your manager are currently working on the same worksheet in different offices, and you make a change to the data, your manager will instantly see that change on her screen. No more e-mailing a workbook around, or waiting for your teammate to check it back in on the server.

    Instantly share your workbookIf your organization uses Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 or later, you can use instant messaging to see who is available to work on a workbook. Click on the File menu to open Backstage view, and then click on Info. When this feature is available, People Currently Editing appears at the top of the pane, followed by the names of people who are available to edit.
    Performance Improvement**cel 2010 is faster and more responsive now, so you can interact with large amount of data in a workbook more efficiently and effectively. In particular, it's faster than ever to sort and filter large amounts of data, refresh pivot and query tables, work with data in page layout view, and open and save large files.
    64-bit version of Excel 2010Excel 2010 is now available in a 64-bit version, which means you can create bigger, even more complex workbooks.
    Simplified language preference settingIf you're a multilingual user, you can easily access a single dialog box, where you can set the editing, display, ScreenTip, and Help languages. If you don't have the software or keyboard layout installed that you need, you are alerted and links are provided to make it easier to solve the problem.
    Accessibility CheckerAccessibility Checker helps to identify and resolve accessibility issues in your workbook, allowing you to fix any potential problems that might keep someone with a disability from accessing your content. If your workbook has any accessibility issues, an alert appears in the Backstage view that allows you to review and repair any issues in your workbook, if necessary.
    Anywhere-access to your workNow you can get to your workbooks from practically anywhere, regardless of location or device.
    Excel Web AppExcel Web App is the online companion to Excel, giving you the freedom to access, edit, and share Excel workbooks from virtually anywhere on your PC, mobile phone, and Web browser. It is entirely Web-based, so there's no additional software to download or install, and it is compatible with a number of devices, including Web-enabled cell phones and Macs.
  • Interact with live data   While viewing a spreadsheet in the browser, you can interpret information by interacting with the data. For example, you can sort and filter columns or expand PivotTables to see relationships and trends in the data.
  • Edit a workbook in the browser   With Excel Web 应用程序, all you need to access your workbooks is a browser. Your teammates can work with you, regardless of which version of Excel they have. When you click on an Excel workbook that is stored in a SharePoint site or in Windows Live SkyDrive, the workbook opens directly in your browser. Your workbooks look the same in the browser as they do in Excel. You can edit your worksheets in the browser, using the familiar look and feel of Excel. When you edit in the browser, you can change data, enter or edit formulas, and apply basic formatting within the spreadsheet.Microsoft Excel Mobile 2010You can access your Excel 2010 workbooks from the Start menu on any phone running Windows Mobile 6.5. You can also open file attachments within an e-mail message or workbooks that are stored on your Windows phone. In addition, you can publish your workbooks to SharePoint Server "14" or Windows Live services, and access and view documents from your Smartphone browser.

    用了很久10版的EXCEL了,但是新增的这些功能却了解的寥寥无几,数透和迷你图比较吸引眼球,下来好好研究下这两个功能,谢谢黄版分享,英文确实很棒!
